Lost Dutchman State Park
|
On March 15, 2015, I went for a short hike in Lost Dutchman State Park. A popular hiking trail leads up to the base of the cliffs of the Superstition Mountains.
Saguaro and Teddy Bear Chola are abundant along the lower part of the trail.
The Superstition Mountains are composed of volcanic tuff from a massive caldeera eruption that buried a huge area under hundreds of feet of hot ash.
The most common flowers are the yellow blossoms of the Brittlebush.
Four Peaks is visible in the distance.
